iLab

The main fundamental research focus of iLab is in using computational modeling to gain insight into biological brain function. They study biologically-plausible brain models and compare the predictions of model simulations to empirical measurements from living systems. The brain subsystem towards which most of their efforts are focused is the visual system. Its principal investigator is Dr. Laurent Itti.

Information Laboratory (InfoLAB)

The InfoLAB applies knowledge-engineering to neuroscientific theory based on published neuroscience data. They work in close collaboration with experimentalists to develop neuroinformatics tools. It is directed by Dr. Cyrus Shahabi.

The Visual Processing Laboratory

The USCBP related research that this lab conducts involves creating computational models to study vision, including models of the retina. This lab is directed by Dr. Norberto Grzywacz.

The Computational Learning and Motor Control Lab

The CLMC Lab's USCBP related research is centered in the realm of computational neuroscience. They are concerned with learning in neural networks, statistical learning, and machine learning since the ability of learning and self-organization seems to be among the most important prerequisites of autonomous systems. Its principal investigator is Dr. Stefan Schaal.

The Computational Neuro-Rehabilitation & Learning Lab

This lab studies motor learning and motivation utilizing computational models. They are investigating the neural basis of motor learning in the cerebellum and the dynamic reorganization of cortical-motor maps during motor learning and after brain injuries such as strokes. This lab's principal investigator is Dr. Nicolas Schweighofer.

The Laboratory for Computational and Biological Vision (LCBV)

This group creates biologically inspired computational models utilizing neural networks. This is the research group of Professor Christoph von der Malsburg.

The Laboratory for Neural Computation (LNC)

The Laboratory for Neural Computation's research in Computational Neuroscience involves the use of computer modeling techniques to study various aspects of brain function including single neural computation, the neural processing role of dendrites, neurally-inspired approaches to mid-level vision problems, learning-related structural plasticity at the axo-dendritic interface, and 3-D object recognition and visual feature learning. This lab is directed by Dr. Bartlett Mel.

The Semantic Information Research Laboratory

This lab's principal investigator is Dr. Dennis McLeod.
